Parts one and three are in the form of conversations between two or more speakers. Parts two and four are monologues, which means only one person speaks.

The first two parts deal with every day life situations. The last two parts are about situations that you might encounter in an educational or professional context.

Yes, spelling is important and you don’t get a score for the question if you misspell a word in the answer.

Do I get time to read the questions before I listen?

Until the end of 2019, you usually had half a minute to read the questions before the listening started. However, you are not given time to read the questions anymore.

Will there be examples at the beginning of part 1?

No. Examples have been removed and you need to answer the questions right after the test starts.

How long is the listening test?

If you are taking the paper-based test, the listening section takes 30 minutes to complete and then you get an extra 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. If you are taking the computer-based test, the length of your test could be between 31 to 36 minutes. Don’t get surprised if the person sitting next to you finishes before or after you.
